I learned a few days ago that Genesis is getting back together for a tour. It’s going to be the core three of Collins, Banks, and Rutherford. Collins still hasn’t fully recovered from his treatment for neuropathy, so his 18 year old son Nic will be handling the drums, like he has been on the recent solo tour. How cool must that be for father and son to work together and for the kid to sit up there as an equal with the legends his dad worked with?
I’m still wishing for a last minute surprise that Peter Gabriel joins them, but that’s pure fantasy. He hasn’t played with Genesis since ‘82. Still, nostalgia is a powerful force amongst aging musicians.
Right now the tour dates are only in the UK, but I’ll be surprised if it doesn’t expand to the S tates.

Cool. I missed them on the last reunion tour and was bummed about it. If they come anywhere close to my area I'll probably go. I saw them on the We Can't Dance tour and thought they put on a heck of a show

I missed the We Can’t Dance tour and was pretty sure that was my last chance. So this is new hope.

Reminds me that I wish my dad and I had found a way to do a collaboration. He was up for it at one time.

Peter is on record stating he absolutely under no terms will work with them again. There is no love lost there. Which in my opinion is fine. They were better after. His solo career was fruitful and he can hang his hat on that.

The only record I find is that they parted as friends. The group reunited with Gabriel in 1982 to help him out with debt incurred by his WOMAD effort. And he almost joined them on tour in 2005, but had conflicts.

All five of the original members (no-one remembers Steve Hackett for some reason) collaborated on the R-kive compilation from 2014 but they weren't able to tour it at the time...

Interesting. Didn’t know that.
Hackett is apparently touring right now and his dates conflict with the band’s. Ironically I hear his show is based on doing old Genesis tunes.

Given the number of co- writes he had on those early albums, I think he's entitled to have a shot at them...

Oh yeah, I’d never suggest otherwise.
